Reverend John Knox Witherspoon, D.D., LL. D. (1791-1853).
Organizer and first pastor of the Hillsborough Presbyterian Church. He died on Sunday, September 25, 1853, the 37th anniversary of the founding of the Church, and was buried in the Old Town Cemetery.
